Q1What is an online lesson?

At your own computer you can use a webcam and headset to have a 1:1 lesson with a trained English Language teacher. The system is easy to use and a perfect way to have real conversation practice if you are not living in an English speaking country.

Q2 What's the differences from a usual English school?

- Your lessons are 1:1 so you can learn at your pace and not the classes pace.
- You learn in your own home - it is convenient, easy and you have access to all your textbooks and learning materials.
- The teacher develops your classes based on your needs and level.
- You don't have to travel anywhere for classes; a great way to study without having to take time traveling to school.

Q3 How we can have a lesson online?

Students and teachers use EnglishEverywhere Messenger accounts for the lesson. At the time of the lesson the teacher will send you a message to open video and voice communication. When you accept their invitation you will be able to hear and see the teacher, and they can hear and see you. Your lesson then begins. If you don't understand something you can also use the typing function on messenger to check their meaning.

Q4 What should I prepare?

A Computer with a Windows Operating System. A Broadband internet connection (cable, ADSL etc) and a Webcam and Headset.

You will need to use MSN Messenger. Please go to your local Windows Live site to download messenger.
Q5 Do I have to pay for the phone bill too?

No, you don't have to pay for a phone-bill. Because you need a Broadband internet connection you will pay your internet charges monthly.
Q6 Is 1 lesson only 30minutes?

1 lesson is 30minutes but you can take 1.5 classes if you want a 45minute class, or you can take 2 lessons for a 60minute class. You can take as many classes as you want each week.
Some students take three 30minute classes each week, others take two 1 hour classes, others take one 30minute class once a week. If you are not sure we can help you decide what is best for you.

Q7 What can I do if there is something in the lesson that I can't understand?

Please ask the teacher to explain again. If you cannot understand what they are saying please ask them to type it. You can also type questions. If you still cannot understand please check an online dictionary. You can also send your question to us, and we will write back with an explanation (but this will be in English)
Q8 Is there any text-book? - and do I have to use it in the lesson?

We have an online Digibook that you can use if you want to. If there is a specific textbook that you would like to use please check the teacher page to see if any of them also use that book. If you don't want to use a textbook in your classes you don't have to.

Q9 Where are your teachers from?

Our teachers are all highly trained native English language teachers. They come from the United Kingdom, America, Canada, Australia, Hungary, and Japan.
Q10 Will I have lessons with the same teacher?

If you want to have lessons with the same teacher then you can. If you want to change teachers then that is okay too. Most of our students try 2 or 3 teachers when they first start learning with us and when they meet a teacher that suits them they take classes with that teacher. We recommend that you take lessons with the same teacher because then you will get consistency in your learning.
Q11 How can I make a lesson reservation?

After E&E receives tuition, we will send you the link of the reservation system.
So please request lessons from that page.

Q12 What can I do if I can not make reservations?

If there is a system problem then please e-mail us at
Support.
If there are no teachers available at the time you want to request please try another day or time.

Q13 I would like to cancel the lesson.

On the lesson request page, there is a link for cancellation. Please fill in the lesson request number of the reservation and your password.
If you send your cancellation at least 24 hours before the lesson, the lesson will be cancelled and will not be counted.
Q14 I would like to finish the course.

For a course of 50/100 lessons we will subtract 100US$ for our process commission and pay you back 50% of the rest of the lessons that you haven't taken yet. Therefore the calculation is:[ 1lesson unit x lessons you haven't taken x 50%−10,000 Japanese Yen]**There is no refunded payment for the 30 lessons course (or under).

Q15 I'm not familiar with computers, can I do online lessons?

Yes, you do not need to use any complicated programmes with EnglishEverywhere. If you can use the internet and can understand how to use Messenger you can definitely take classes with us. We will also support you online to help you get used to the system (at the moment we have only English or Japanese language supporters).

Q16 Where can I buy a web-cam and headset?

You can buy a web-camera and headset at any computer shop. Please check that the web-cam can be used with messenger systems. If you are not sure please ask the shop staff and they will be able to help you.
Q17 My computer is old, can I use it for the lesson?

If your computer is 4 or 5 years old there should be no problems using it for lessons. If your computer is older it may be too slow. However, we can test your connection easily on the connection check, so please don't hesitate to check with us.

Q18 I have a Macintosh computer, can I use it for the lesson?

We are sorry, but at the moment Macintosh users are unable to use the systems we use. But if you are happy with just a voice lesson (with no video) then you can use the Skype messenger system with our teachers.

Q19 My computer has speakers. Do I have to use a headset?

We recommend that students use a headset because you get clearer sound and you don't get any feedback from your speakers. If you don't have a headset then sometimes there is a big echo, and you can hear your voice, which is distracting when you are taking a class. Headsets can be bought for approximately 1000 Japanese Yen/$10US in any computer shop.

Q20 Do I have to use a web-cam?

You don't have to use a web-cam, but we do recommend it. It makes learning and understanding easier because you can see your teachers face and expressions. Also teachers can see your expressions so they can have a better understanding of if you are okay and if you understand well
.

However, if you would prefer not to use a webcam please let us know and we will let your teacher know.
Q21 I use dial-up internet connection, is it ok?

Dial-up internet connections are generally too slow and cannot support video and chat functions. Students who try with a dial-up connection often get disconnected. Therefore a broadband internet connection (ADSL/Cable etc) is recommended. If you usually use messenger with a dial up connection with no problems then please let us know. We can do a connection check and if it's okay and if you want to take classes with us then please apply.
